YAMAHA RHINO ATV RECALL
On March 31, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a consumer safety warning related to these off road vehicles. Following this warning, Yamaha suspended the sale of the following models:
Rhino 450
Rhino 660
Rhino 700.
Without certain safety features, it has been alleged that these models are prone to roll over due to instability and lack crashworthiness features. Users are encouraged to stop use until certain safety features have been implemented.
Studies have indicated that a number of deaths and broken bones occurred even at low speeds. Some reports indicate that over hundreds of deaths occur every year as a result of ATV accidents.
Riders at Risk
Yamaha has plans to implement half doors and passenger holds for owners of these ATVs or UTVS.
