DePuy Pinnacle Hip Replacement

Similar to the ASR hip device, the DePuy Pinnacle hip replacment system is also metal on metal. This system also uses a "TrueGlide" lubrication system that was designed to use the body's natural fluids to aid motion within the joint that would more similarly mimick the body's normal range of motion. In the December 2010 issue of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ASOS), a study showed evidence of an increased risk of metal poisoning due to debris created from the metal on metal contact in the hip replacement system. These risks were also the basis of numerous complaints to the FDA about hip replacement systems. Some complaints associated with metal on metal hip replacement systems include:

  • metal posioning
  • pain from looseness
  • abnormal gait, and
  • revision surgery.

If you or a loved one has experienced revision surgery, increased pain or infection following the implementation of a Pinnacle hip system, please contact hip device lawyer Mike Sudekum for a free discussion of your legal rights.
